Adventures In The City

It's been over seven weeks since we made the trek from Colorado Springs to the Denver area, and we've had many an adventure since then! The Big Guy is working enough for the both of us, so I am now officially a stay at home mom. It's something I've wanted from the moment I laid eyes on the Little Man though I didn't always realize it. That being said, being stuck in a two bedroom apartment with a 3 year old day after day is not ideal, so I've made it a point to get out and "do stuff". There is sooooo much to do up here, and a lot of it  is free or reasonably priced. Here's some of the fun we've had so far:

City Park
{Free}
We actually just went to take this family picture, but we ended up having a lot of fun along the way!

The Cheyenne Mountain Zoo
{Free with our membership}
We still make regular trips down to Colorado Springs, so one day we took advantage of our zoo membership before it expired. It was one of the most fun days we'd had at the zoo!

Little Man's First Rockies Game!!
{Our sister got a special deal, but there are always reasonably priced tickets and you can bring food in the stadium if you follow the rules}
In mid May we went to Little Man's first Rockies baseball game with The Big Guy's sister. I honestly wasn't paying much attention to the game, because we were having so much fun in the stands! Little man had his first shaved ice, and that was...an adventure...silly me I forgot to grab napkins!

Memorial Day Weekend
The Butterfly Pavilion and Red Rocks Park
{$9.50 for adults and $6.50 for kids 2-12; Red Rocks Park is free}
Both sets of parents/grandparents came up for Memorial Day weekend, so we headed to a couple spots we've been wanting to see.

The Butterfly Pavilion was the coolest thing! If you have any interest at all in butterflies, it's worth a visit, and the prices really aren't too bad. They have a lot more than just butterflies, but, of course, that was the highlight of the day.

We went for a short hike in Red Rocks Park the next day. It's a beautiful park!

{Free}
This is an awesome and fun way to cool down. We've already been a couple of times, and it's a hug hit with Little Man.

Truck Driving Championship
My dad is a driver for a trucking company that participates in the truck driving competition, so we went out to support him and got to check out some cool trucks while we were at it.

Denver Museum of Nature and Science
{Free Day}
There are so many "free days" up here in the Denver area, so we decided to take advantage of one, and go to the Denver Museum of Nature and Science Free Day. Parking was a little crazy (especially if you're driving a long bed pickup like I was), but it was totally worth any hassle. It's such a neat place!

The Children's Museum of Denver
{Free Afternoon/Evening}
Thanks to Target, families can enjoy a free evening at the Children's Museum of Denver the first Tuesdays of  the month, so we decided to check it out. I remember LOVING the Children's Museum when I was a kid.

It.
Was.
Insane.

Don't get me wrong. It was really cool, and we'll go back. We'll just avoid the free day and pay to get in next time. Since it was a free day, there were soooo many people there. Ahhhh! It was just a little too much for me and definitely not worth saving the money in my opinion.

Nonetheless, Little Man enjoyed himself.

Well, that's our adventures so far in a nutshell. We've been having little adventures at home and around our complex since that crazy day at the Children's Museum, but I'll save that for another post.

Until next time!

The End Is Just the Beginning

{This post was first published on my old blog: "Taking Time To Create"}

Where to start...

Let's talk about the beginning. The beginning of this blog that is. I started this blog as an attempt to help get my name out there, so I could possibly start selling my cards on Etsy. It was a business thing I suppose. The funny thing about business things is that they're not always that fun. You don't always want to sit down and spend spare time on them. However, I found myself enjoying blogging. I enjoy sharing my projects. I, surprisingly, enjoy writing. I enjoy every comment on the blog, every comment or like on Facebook, and get ecstatic when I see that something I've created is getting pinned and pinned over and over again on Pinterest. The card making became less and less of a priority, and I wanted to start focusing on the blog more than anything.

Then I began to feel God impressing on me to start blogging about more than just crafting. I felt I should be sharing more of Him and myself with you all. I wasn't sure how to do it and for months I just let it sit in the back of my head without taking any action.

Back in February, I finally wrote a more personal post about God's plans and not knowing them. It's somewhat surreal to read that post now after all that has happened in the past couple of months. About two months after I published that post, our little family started to see a little bit more of God's plan for our life.

{That's us on moving day. Saying goodbye to our home of 4 years.}

As we went through the process of packing up, moving, and unpacking, I started to think about this blog and how it would fit into our new life. Then I started to picture something a little different. A blog that isn't about crafting with a little God on the side but is about so much more than that. I envisioned a blog that's a little more about our family, our adventures and misadventures, our walk with God, our creations, and so much more. A blog that's about us taking time from what can be a crazy life to really stop and smell the roses. It would be a blog with personal posts, posts about God and how wonderful he is, and of course creative posts would be there too, because that's so much of who I am.

I suppose I could accomplish all this with "Taking Time To Create". I could just turn things in a different direction, but with the fresh start I feel like moving has created, something fresh and new is in order here too.

{We took this the weekend after we moved.}

So, I would like to introduce you to "Taking Time In The City". It's a new blog that will be all that I've described and more. We're determined to have lots of adventures now that we've moved to the "big city", and we're going to share them with you. I hope you'll head on over and join us!

"Taking Time To Create" will remain live; I just won't be actively updating it. Please feel free to peruse the archives for lots of great creative posts!
